ENTERPRISES SHIPPING AND TRADING S.A. ’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy is based on the following:
1. Total abstinence from alcohol during duties, watch keeping, port arrival/departure etc. Consequently it is strictly prohibited alcohol existing on board for use of the crew members. Random testing of all crew members shall be carried out to ensure that the overall objective of the Code is preserved.
Flag and Port requirements, which exceed the requirements of this policy, shall be adhered to as if included in this policy.
2. With regard to Drug, this Policy is based on the following:
· Any form of drug, with the exception of prescribed drugs, is totally banned from Company managed vessels.
· Personnel on prescribed drugs must declare this fact to the Master upon joining the vessel, or upon prescription if prescribed during the period of service on board.
· The Master if on prescribed drugs must declare this fact to the company prior joining the vessel, or upon prescription if prescribed during the period of service on board
3. The Company in order to ensure that all crew members are fully in compliance with Company’s policy, has decided apart from the pre-employment screening examination of all crew members and the monthly unannounced test carried-out by the Master, to proceed to the implementation of the following two methods:
a) Unannounced drug tests by a third party organization, at least once per year; and
b) Unannounced alcohol tests carried-out by one crew member chosen by the company who will be responsible to carry-out the tests at the presence of two witnesses, at least once per year.
Officers and Ratings are subject to unannounced drug and alcohol testing conducted by third parties as required by Industry, Client and Owners requirements.
Contradiction of this policy may lead to dismissal.
